My Approach to Photo Sessions
I love meeting and working with families, couples, children, groups of friends, and individuals and I endeavor to make each experience true to life and unique to your group’s dynamic.
During our initial consultation, I will chat with you about what you are looking for in a session (I.e. outdoor family session, at-home newborn session, storytelling session at your favorite spot, etc.) and start to look for an opening on my calendar that works for all of us. I will ask about the subjects of the session, the ages and interests of any children, and any special poses or ideas you might like me to capture for you. Once a date, time, and location are agreed on, I will draw up a simple contract and invoice online and email them to you. Once the contract is signed and invoice paid, your time will be reserved and your session will be booked!
Next, I offer a complimentary wardrobe consultation as part of your session package. If you need any advice or just a fresh set of eyes to look over your outfit choices, I love to help you choose the best items to fit everyone’s personalities and comfort levels. In posed family sessions, most subjects prefer to dress up a bit, which translates nicely into portraits. During MomLife, Children, and Everyday sessions, I encourage the subjects to wear their most-loved items or clothing that makes them feel comfortable, even incorporating special toys/loveys into some photos.
When shooting your photos, I maintain a friendly chitchat through the entire shoot, using gentle posing cues and being silly for the sake of genuine kid smiles. To read more about what the inside of a session looks like, check out this page!
After your session is finished, I typically take 2-3 weeks to upload, cull, select, and hand edit the best images. I will upload them into an online gallery for you to peruse, share, and order from. I will also work with you to tweak any edits until you are fully satisfied with the result. Almost all of my packages include a certain amount of full resolution digital images for download, but I also am happy to place orders from professional photo labs for prints, canvases, and photo albums when requested.
From the start to finish of this process, I strive to make your total experience with me a personal, warm, and fun one resulting in photographs you will cherish for your lifetime.
